Horwath HTL Health and Wellness Appointed as Saudi Public Investment Fund’s Amaala Project Wellness Leaders

BANGKOK, Thailand – Horwath HTL Health and Wellness has been selected by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) to conduct on-going strategic advisory for a USD 11 billion mixed-use wellness resort project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project, Amaala, is a new premium luxury integrated health and wellness destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia developed as part of the Saudi Vision 2030 program. Its objective is to curate transformative personal journeys for exceptional communities inspired by arts, wellness and the purity of the Red Sea. The Triple Bay site will become the most complex health and wellness destination in the world, featuring some of the most advanced wellness, medical and surgical facilities once completed.

Horwath HTL Health and Wellness, along with its sister company GOCO Hospitality, are spearheading efforts to develop the 300 key plus luxury residential wellness destination strategy, which includes a 200-key integrated wellness facility and a 100-key medical wellness center, complete with 20 plastic surgery accommodation units and a wellness research institute.

The project, which is currently in the master planning and design stage, also includes the development of multiple financial analyses, lease- and non-lease-backed residential rental scenarios (branded and non-branded), operator selection for the wellness components, architectural selection, as well as a master plan, area program, adjacency diagram and design recommendations.

At the heart of the Amaala project sits the prestigious PIF advisory board, where Ingo Schweder, Managing Director of Horwath HTL Health and Wellness, has been appointed to provide wellness hospitality development and industry expertise. Schweder will sit beside other advisory board members including Co-founder of Regent Hotels, George Rafael, Co-founder of Ritz-Carlton, Horst Schulze, Senior Advisor for International Affairs of Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, Thomas Krens, World Number One Polo
Champion, Nacho Figueras, and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Working alongside world-renowned architects such as Foster + Partners, Antonio Citterio and Chien Chung Pei, master planner HKS, and leading global consulting organizations EY and Oliver Wyman, Horwath HTL Health and Wellness has been engaged to carry out initial strategic advisory, global and regional market research and to develop three distinct resort and research property concepts, as well as conduct the financial feasibility sensitivity analysis for all wellness components of the destination, which includes a medical
wellness retreat, an integrative wellness retreat, and a wellness research institute among other resort spas.

As a hub of arts and culture, Amaala will feature a range of active sports clubs, such as polo, equestrian, horse riding and falconry clubs, and feature a fully underwater museum. It will also host regular symposiums by internationally acclaimed artists, organizations and governments, alongside international events such as sailing and yacht shows, polo tournaments and auctions.

Described as the ‘luxury of tomorrow’, Amaala is set to become one of the world’s most exclusive integrated resorts, supported by world-class luxury resorts offering the most comprehensive resort facilities, amenities and premium residential villa components. Other world-leading partners in the project include the Monaco Yacht Club, Fazio Design golf course architects and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
